The Customer

Tennent’s Lager is Scotland’s best-selling pale lager, with approximately 60% of the Scottish lager market. The lager was first brewed in 1885 by Hugh Tennent, and in 1893 it won the highest award at the Chicago World’s Fair. It is described as a distinctive, well-balanced lager whose sweet, malty flavours combine with a tangy hoppiness to create its crisp, refreshing character. Tennent’s Lager is certified by the Vegetarian Society as being suitable for vegetarians.

The lager was once famous for the design of its cans, which featured photos of various female models printed onto the side – known affectionately as “The Lager Lovelies”. This feature was used by Tennent’s up until the final campaign in 1989. Today, authentic original Lager Lovely cans are highly sought after among collectors. The can design is now a plain silver colour, with the company’s trademark large red “T” featuring prominently.

The Projects

4 Screen Video Wall

We installed 4 commercial Samsung screens in Portrait behind the reception screen,
these are bright promotional screens to run Tennent’s content, created by Reflex Blue.
Powered by an Advantech media player and managed through Signage2Go this allows the client to manage the screens from anywhere in the world via a web browser.

Lager Lovely Can

Traditionally Tennent’s used Lager Lovelies on their cans and have recreated this in an innovative way. 2 screens were installed inside a large can, this pulls in from the museums camera application allowing visitors to take a photo of themselves, enter their name, and have them appear on the can as a Lager Lovely. The screens are powered by one Advantech media player with 2 outputs, allowing a single licence to be used and only one support contract in place for a very cost effective solution.

Delivery Truck

A media player and screen sits inside a traditional delivery truck used by Tennent’s in the past. This is combined with external speakers and a trigger button to allow the museum guide to start the content as the visitors pass by. It gives a history of the brewery and information on the truck. This uses a commercial Samsung panel and a bright sign media player.

Outdoor LED Screen

Inurface Media was brought in to setup and maintain the outdoor LED screen Tennents had just acquired. Through our other work and experience with Digital Out Of Home we suggested a fully remote system with failover capabilities to ensure high levels of up time. Using 2 Advantech Media players, a DVI switcher and custom selected digitiser we have created a robust solution which allows Tennent’s to both promote their own brand while selling advertising space.
